Masaki Sencha is the best grade of sencha offered by our company. This sencha, unlike the powdered matcha, is prepared like many other teas. The leaves are steeped in hot (but not boiling) water and then removed for enjoyment and drinking of the tea. Superior Grade sencha from Masaki is picked earlier, and protected from the sun to produce a sweeter, richer tea.
Sencha is also the dried tea leaves of the camellia sinensis plant. Sencha is grown and harvested very similarly to matcha, with the exception that the leaves are not powdered. Japanese sencha is picked and steamed, and then the tea leaves are rolled and dried. The leaves are dried and used in teas by steeping, much like other teas on the market. Sencha is one of the most popular drinks in Japan, and is widely used all over the world. The infused tea leaves make a beverage of a green-golden color that has a modestly astringent vegetable flavour.
